HPLC-HRMS

This service provides high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) using a Bruker micrOTOF-Q II Q-TOF mass spectrometer. This combination of techniques allows for the determination of the exact mass of compounds and their fragmentation patterns (MS/MS) for selected ions. This information can be used to identify known molecules by searching databases or comparing to standards, and to determine molecular formulas. Several sample ionization sources are available, with the most commonly used being electrospray ionization (ESI), which is a soft ionization technique compatible with most biomolecules.

Coupling HPLC or UHPLC separation with HRMS allows for the performance of HPLC-MS or UHPLC-MS, enabling the analysis of a wide range of organic compounds in mixtures that are separated by chromatography. Examples of applications include:

  • Analysis of polyphenols
  • Analysis of peptides and proteins
  • Analysis of lipids and sugars
  • Analysis of food additives
  • Analysis of toxins and toxicants
  • Analysis of agrochemicals
  • Drug purity control

This service is associated with CONICET STAN ST 2033.
