The HORIBA LA-950 particle size analyzer uses laser light scattering to measure size distribution. This technique uses first principles to calculate size using light scattered by the particle (edge scattering) and through the particle (secondary diffraction refraction). It incorporates full Mie scattering theory into the calculations to cover a wide range of sizes.
